Our Homes Making the Move

Things to Consider Before Buying

Apart from financial considerations, you’ll have plenty to think about before moving into your new home. Moving can be an exciting experience, but also requires some consideration. You want to be as sure as possible that you’re making the correct choice for you. We encourage you to do your own research. Please visit and talk to the residents here and make a list of questions that are important to you. Our team will be only too happy to answer them.

When is the best time?

Not everybody that moves into a retirement village is retired. We’re seeing an increase in the number of residents that are still working. Naturally though, retirement is an excellent time to consider a lifestyle change. You’ll probably have more free time than you have enjoyed in many years. New surroundings could be the ideal change at this point in your life.

Your new home

Size and amenity are important factors when choosing your new home. Downsizing is important and offers the benefit of easier upkeep and maintenance. It is important to consider your needs and requirements. Some of our homes are quite large allowing plenty of space for family and friends. All homes have been designed to promote easy living with indoor and outdoor space for entertaining. Our friendly staff will be more than happy to guide you through the available options.

Selling your current home

We recommend engaging the services of a quality real estate agent when selling your home. Often our experienced staff will be happy to recommend a real estate agent through their local experience. We will also be there to help coordinate timing of your sale and the purchase of your new home. We’ll be as flexible as possible in accommodating these timing differences, and will do our best to make the transition as smooth as possible.

What to ask our staff

Our staff are ready to answer your questions in person or over the phone. At Fraser Shores we are keen to help and to welcome you to our community, making the experience the start of an exciting next phase of your life.

With this in mind, we have some examples of questions we think you should ask before moving into any retirement village. Of course, add your own questions to this list too.

  • Can you explain more of the process of buying into Fraser Shores?
  • Are there ongoing costs that I need to consider and what are they?
  • Please explain the purchase price and any other costs, for example legal and costs applicable when I leave the village
  • How long does settlement usually take?
  • What happens if my circumstances change and I need to move out?
